'It will haunt me forever' Chris Brown reveals

SUCCESS IN MUSIC FOR ARTISTES

These days everybody seems to be venturing into the music business; in the typical Nigerian pidgin language "everybody wan blow". But quoting John Networq "Everybody na musician, few na artiste".  Explaining that quote, it is only the few that stands out from the rest in their uniqueness that gets to make it as a successful artiste, because anyone who enters the studio and releases any track whether the sound is good or bad is already a musician. So it is first of all about Uniqueness, how unique and different is your song from the other tracks of other different numerous musician?
Falz, yes Falz theBahdGuy is a perfect example of uniqueness, why? Because he came into the industry with a kind of rap none of us has ever witnessed, and no other artiste can do it better than him. And you can agree with me that he has gathered much root in the Nigerian music industry; imagine as he had said in his song #BahdBaddoBaddest, he is currently the only artiste that has won the AMVCA, an award meant for actors alone. No wonder he said he is not only an artiste but also an entertainer.
Another epitome of uniqueness is the producer turned rapper, Phyno who came into the music scene in 2003 as a producer but started banging as a rapper in 2010. He came in with the banger #Ghostmode featuring Olamide which won the award of best collabo in 2012 at the Nigerian Entertainment Award #NMA [now rebranded]. Before then, Igbo Music was crawling like a nation expressing inflation, but Phyno brought new trends and a new kind of rap characterized by fastness. Even his sound was new and banging and lovers of music felt his presence even till now. So we agree that you have to be unique to be noticed. Falz said while advicing the contestants at the MTN Project Fame season 9 that you have to find that style that your fans would like and that makes you stand out while mixing it with your passion. He narrated that he found his style while trying to be funny as he was recording a video of a family vacation in Paris. He picked up that style when he saw that people liked the video because of the funny way he talked.
Another factor of worthy discussion is the promotion of your song and everything that comes with it. A song is not a song until it is heard by others. When you dish out a hot jam, it has to be criticized and when you receive a positive review from not just your friends but from strangers, then know that you got the sounds right. It is then time to promote the song via radio air plays, blogs etc. Some upcoming artiste forgot they can make money without releasing albums... Let me quote The Playmaker, who said in his song [Man of the Year-Obago] "No albums but I'm getting milli". Yes, an upcoming act with a good song can get money from:
1. Shows: When Zoro released the banger #Ogene, he was invited to a show where he went home with #400k after performing for just 4minutes. It was because that song was the first of its kind and the fans loved it to the extent of fans playing it like madt. Going through the streets, you will always hear it banging at barber's shops, at parties, the song was everywhere because it was well promoted.
2. Callertunes: You will pay me for this one... Okay, let's say you owe me. You can add your song as a Callertune and get paid whenever that #50 is deducted from the subscribers. Music is a business as much as it is a passion, never forget that. Be real, be original, be unique.
Make sure to promote a song very well before you release another one. You have ten songs and none is out there, it is not just bad, it is a shame, a shame to you. Use popular blogs like ours to promote your songs, we are good with the socials on Twitter, Facebook and even WhatsApp, just name it.
Before I forget, one more thing. How many followers do you have on Twitter? They're not just your followers, they're lovers of what you do, use them to get what you want. And finally, don't go about doing what everybody is doing, think and come up with fresh ideas that people would like and make sure it gets out there. Now, tell me Thank You. Lol *winks*
